1418 - Well, *something* went right today

I found my watch. It was on the workbench I use for soldering, where I'd spliced el-wire last week.

That's not fair. More thatn that has gone right. I've gotten lots of supporting email and IMs from friends and folks who liked the costume. "The lurkers support me in email" is one of the oldest, and lamest, excuses on the net, but in this case I'm going to shamelessly use it anyway.

Hey man

You can use me as a voucher. I go to Fark, and I thought your pictures were funny. But not to the point that you would be hurt by it. Sorry for the people out there that feel the need to kick someone for stupid reasons. You can also check Fark comments board, on the bottom, I offered for all of us getting "entertainment" out of your costume to kick in a buck to help replace your watch.

I laughed, simply cus the pictures were funny, thats all. Not to be mean, not to make you feel bad. Bottom line is, if I did that, and people laughed, I would laugh too. But I see where you can be offended by those being vicious. that sucks.

About the costume, it is cool looking. Good job.

About the cup, hahahaha, maybe next time.

About your being depressed, come on man, take those who are chuckling at it with good heart. It is ment in good faith. Take those who are being vicious for what they are, assholes.

I hope you get this and read it, I am not kissing up, I am being honest.

Best of luck in the future!

I have been trying to stay far away from LiveJournal, but I decided to come out of hiding to tell you that I love you, and I want to marry you.

I liked your tron costume, I thought it was cool, saw it at the con and in fark. I work in IT, at a college. and one thing I've noticed that amuses me to no end, everybody elses hobbies are always someones
joke, and the people laughing have nothing tangible to show that they do anything besides surf the net and watch tv. At least you did something constructive, who cares what the peanut gallery thinks, they just sit and watch people like you living and doing. I liked it. ;)

I thought your costume was great, I wish I was that creative but no go for me.

I hope that you just forget all those *uc*ers that are making fun and just dig into all that attention it has brought to you :D

Count me as a lurker who supports you publically. I think you're a gentleman and a good sport who seems to have weathered the slashdot/fark/sa teasing with a commendable amount of grace.

And that costume ruled.

Count me in on the non-lurking support side.

Opinions are like assholes, to turn a very old phrase- everyone's got one and most of 'em stink. Don't let the nasty crap get you down. For every comment where someone took the time to snipe at you, there are at least three quiet geeks who saw the costume, thought "cool!" and then went back to whatever it was that they were doing.

7th grader huh?

Interesting dude, when I first saw the pics I though it was a groovy Idea, I didnt like how you painted stuff on , you should have used something like armor pieces on the front so you could put EL Wire on other parts of the costume, I personally think only putting the EL Wire on the arm pieces was a mistake, but I digress.
You say you are upset and whatnot about becoming Famous, how many of your fellow cospalyers have this much press for free,
so thanks for refering to the Farkers as being 7th graders, all you did was make a lot of them angry, I bet you wold have prefered to have been rfeatured on Something awful, or perhaps here, a hosted part of SA, Cliff Yablonski, have a look at Cliffs page then you will see, what I mean.

remember Fark has made many celebrities.

Actually, I have been featured on Something Awful, as well as a second time on Fark. I can't say I prefer any of them; they all have about the same mentality.

I didn't set out to become famous. Had I known just what kind of fame I'd achieve, I probably wouldn't have posted to Slashdot (what started it all).

As for making Farkers mad, I don't care a great deal about that, as they didn't exactly do anything for me.

The costume rocks, period.
Stupid sites like Something Awful & Fark are only there for bored people to make fun, and it is juvenile. It's kind of like how the news only reports on the bad stuff that happens, because no one wants to hear about the kitten that was saved from a tree. And, you have to realize that they don't know you, they see one photo and suddenly they're an expert? They apparently don't know a damn good Tron costume when they see one, either. Whatev's, bro, keep on rockin. You'd better have an even better costume next year.
