1006 - Two TV notes

The August 9th episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, with Quentin Tarantino, Lenny Kravitz, and me, will rerun Friday, September 3. If you missed it (because the football game ran long, or just because), here's your chance to get it on tape.

The dating contest continues...and there's apparently more interest out there than I thought. There's a message on the Jimmy Kimmel Live message board from a lady hoping to get a date today, on her birthday. I'm sorry to say she'll be disappointed about the day, although I don't know anything more about whether she (or anyone else) will be selected.

Holy cow, Kimmel (or ABC) needs decent message board software...

I tried to look at the message board, using Mozilla. The appearance of the board is verily like unto used cattle feed, and I suspect it of doing heavily IE-specific things.

Yeah, I know. It looks like crap with Safari, too. The messages bleed over into other messages, beyond borders, obliterate titles, and generally go where they're not supposed to.

I suspect it is IE-specific formatting, possibly CSS in the Microsoft style. It's readable on IE (If I could use another browser here, I would) though I think not done well. It looks remarkably different in Opera (I looked at noon) at least with CSS pretty much switched off. Interestingly, it looked cleaner without the intended formatting... though I haven't tried Opera with letting the page do its thing.

I've now looked at that board with CSS enabled in Opera. I will not be doing that again. What a formatting disaster that board is.
