|0826 - I guess the dating thing is over...|
They took the "Win a date with the TRON guy" link off the Jimmy Kimmel Live page. I guess they're done accepting new entries, and probably with doing them in general. Five dates is probably as far as they wanted to take that bit.
Wonder what's next...
current mood: disappointed
The least they could have done was tell you before they did it. If not you - at least your agent... time to nudge him!
I noticed the link was gone. Too bad. I must say though, I'm so tickled I got to be one of the fortunate ladies.
I missed the date 4 airing. Darn. How was it and what did you do ? As for pulling the "win a date" - don't worry it doesn't mean anything. They have been bombarded and have plenty of applications - and not that huge of a budget for whooping it up in the planes and all - you know. It's been my feeling all along that they would go with 4-5 dates, maybe even six and let the audience vote on one of them. They've invested a lot of time and money so I seriously doubt that they won't milk it ! Not to worry - we have ways of stirring the pot. LOL
I don't know how much was the idea that the dating bit had played out, or if it was just a general rush. Jay's schedule pretty much required he be on Tuesday night or else not at all this week - and they did spend the money to get him out to L.A. The Rodney Dangerfield remembrance and perhaps the street bits added a time pressure beyond what the normal show time pressure was, I think. My guess, and it is just that, is that the clock was the biggest issue last night and talk with Jay was an easy minute or two to shave off of the schedule. Knowing a bit of the background to how that date went, the editing was actually impressive.
Are you not at some point going to be expected to pick a "winner" out of the five, who'd win, I dunno, a second date?
I don't know. They haven't said anything to me about that, although everyone outside of the show seems to expect it.
Perhaps you should, you know, ask them...
I took a few pictures on Date 5. If they turn out half as good as I hope, I'd be happy to send them to you. Jay has my email address. I'll send them to him also, just in case. I still have some of the film left, so I'll probably drag the camera along to the Alama Drafthouse Theatre for his upcoming visit to Houston.
Of course I'd be happy to track down any potential contributors...
Jay, Do you get to pick someone out of all the dates you went on? It's a little rude that they didn't tell you this whole thing was over. I'm sure that this was just a stepping stone into more interesting & fun things. :D
Well, they still have to show Date #5
. I think it's supposed to air next week.
I got a call from the producer Thursday evening. They'll probably air #5
Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. They're not planning to shoot any more at this point.
