1211 - Madrid in the summer?

Just spoke to the folks I do some work for in Madrid. It looks like they're going to bring me back over there in late August or so to do some more mainframe consulting for them. They were thinking about bringing me over sooner, but they seem to think it gets hot in Madrid in July, for some reason. I have no idea why.

Perhaps now would be a good time for me to get back after the Spanish course I've got on CD...

It's International Day at the Stable!

Say, speaking of electronic learnin', how's the Robert's Rules going?

Trying to find someone local to proctor the test. In the meantime, I'm studying those sections of the rules that the pretest showed I need to.

Bueno! All of Spain is on vacation in July and August - they're all at the beach, because it's too hot (hace mucho calor).

One of the things I actually still remember from the Spanish-language literature course I took in my freshman year is a proverb about the weather in central Spain, cited in an essay on Spain (by Miguel de Unamuno, if I remember rightly): "nueve meses de invierno y tres de infierno." (Nine months of winter and three of hell.) I dare say their concept of winter may differ from that of people who've lived in Minnesota. :)

When I was there the week after New year's, it was cool to my Texan senses, but only a bit rainy and in the 60s F.
