Bold the ones you like.
Underline your favorite.
Strike through the songs you loathe.
Italicize the ones you can't remember.
Leave it untagged if you're without an opinion.

There's a lot here that's on my second-level list; I have real favorites from these bands, but not from 1977: ELO's Turn to Stone, Atlanta Rhythm Section's Champagne Jam, The Eagles' Get Over It, Steve Miller Band's Space Cowboy, Marshall Tucker Band's Ghost Riders in the Sky. Picking a favorite was harder than it could have been because of that.

Turn to Stone by ELO is an awesome song.

There's another version of this meme that works with your birth year rather than high school graduation year. I'm personally going to go with that version, because almost all the songs from my graduation year (1999) I utterly loathe. Those songs I do like were usually by Australian alternative artists, so they didn't really hit the charts.

I'm noticing that a lot on my friends list. People do the meme, and find they either hate or don't remember a lot of the songs, sometimes to the point that they don't even post the thing.

Same here. The thing is, in my case if I did it based on the Triple J Hottest 100 rather than the American charts, then I'd remember pretty much all of it and like a fair bit of it.

Triple J mainly play alternative/indie stuff as well as some dance music. They're a taxpayer funded youth radio network, basically. Most of the music I enjoyed listening to as a teenager was played on Triple J and either took months to get mainstream airplay (by which point I was well sick of it) or not at all.

Also, the Triple J charts are a fairly even mix of Australian/British/American bands, whereas the US chart mainly features US artists.
