1142 - "What do you want for Christmas?"

Every year, I get asked this question.
Every year, I wind up pretty much not answering it.

In general, I'm a fairly difficult guy to buy stuff for. If I come up needing something, I usually go out and get it - which cuts down on the number of things others can get for me. In addition, the stuff I enjoy doing is pretty esoteric, which cuts down even more on what I can ask for.

All of this conspires to give my relatives a bit of trouble. I wish I could help out more, but I just don't know how.

I find myself in exactly the same situation when it comes to presents. And one of the worst things is the friend who thinks they've found you the "perfect" present, and on your opening it seem to await sudden and unforced squeals of delight on your part.. I hate to disappoint, but you can't please all the people all the time.

I must say that I like the one present I've got and opened so far. It's the owner's manual from a late 40s Mixmaster that once belonged to Sir John Tonkin, a former Premier of this State. Very esoteric!
