|2037 - Quote of the day|
"I'd rather hunt with Dick Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy."
current mood: amused
current music: Genesis - That's All
We have a winner.
(I've been hit with birdshot before. Some damnfool was shooting at a 55-gallon drum, and the pellets bounced back and hit him. Err... me. Hit me.)
Well, I'd rather ride with Ted Kennedy than get sent to Iraq by George W. Bush.
I'll pass on both. I think I'd rather deal with the Vampire for MN Govenor. I'm not voting for him either, after all, my capes are better.
(please read with complete sarcasm.)
Who said it?
I thought Ann C. might have said it..
OK, I might be a 'liberal', and not everything I say is solid quotable gold, but I thought that the jab at Ted Kennedy's drinking was too cheap to ring interesting - like another Michael Moore fat joke. As a one-liner, it's witty, but it's really scraping the bottom of something nasty in its frantic search for relevance..
I'm still flabbergasted that someone with Chappaquiddick on his record would ever get elected to public office, let alone keep it forever.
Well, seeing as I have never heard of Chappaquiddick (and many other people probably haven't, either), I'm not suprised. Is that the name of the town where said Kennedy got drunk, pulled down his pants, and robbed a bank while screaming, "THIS is where the action is, BABY!!"?
Kennedy, it is alleged, drove off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island while intoxicated, and a lady, Mary Jo Kopechne, died trapped in the car. Instead of getting help, Kennedy allegedly staged an elaborate coverup. See the YTedK
site for one account of the incident.
I scanned a page or two after reading your post. I'd heard something about him and a drunk driving death (if only he'd robbed a bank with his pants down instead).
Amazing how really shameful junk gets brushed under the rug for these guys sometimes.
You know, the current first lady, Laura Bush, killed a passenger while driving intoxicated, as well.
She did have an accident in which another teen was killed, but she was not intoxicated at the time, and she certainly did not try to cover it up. See the Snopes entry
on the accident for the details.
Oh, and the other teen wasn't a passenger in her car, either.
