|1551 - Too rich for my blood|
There was just an eBay live auction for an elder costume from TRON. This one was rare enough that I decided to make a serious run at it.
Unfortunately, I couldn't swing it. I had to bail out at $4250 (with an 18% buyer's premium, which would have pushed it near $5K); it went for $5K plus premium.
current mood: disappointed
An impressive piece of work. When can we expect to see you make one? :)
Heh. I'd have to have a whole lot of fabric dyed the right color, and that skill is well beyond me...
I bid $5k for Mal's original browncoat from Firefly. As in, the one Nathan Fillion (who played Mal) wore during filming.
It sold for $12k. I still regret not having a higher credit limit. It's something only a fellow fan would understand.
"Buyer's premium"? That's new and icky...
No, it's pretty much standard - for live auctions, like this one. eBay users were able to participate in a live auction online through a Java application. Auction houses make their money by charging a premium over the bid price.
Ah, that makes sense.
