0944 - There's a first time for everything

Those of you who have read this journal for any length of time know that I lean toward the conservative end of the political spectrum. (Indeed, a common refrain among those who have dropped it from their friends list is that they got tired of reading my right-wing postings.)

I'm going to surprise you almost as much as I'm going to surprise myself: I'm going to link to a posting at the Daily Kos, and suggest that you should all read it - because I agree with it wholeheartedly.

Pick your jaw up off the floor.

Then go read this article on why liberals should love the Second Amendment.

To make up for those who've dropped you from their Friends List over such, is there any way for me to add you to MY list TWICE?

If the First Amendment is the foundation to the Bill of Rights, then the Second is its cornerstone. A grand Constitution, like any grand edifice, cannot stand without either.

Right on. I consider myself fairly liberal (more socially liberal than fiscally liberal, I guess some would consider me 'lefty libertarian', but whatever, they're just labels), and this is why I'm proudly a member of both the ACLU and the NRA. All the articles of the Bill of Rights are important. And yes, I own guns, I enjoy shooting them, and I'm a damn fine shot, if I do say so myself :)
