Tuesday was a blur. As I'd predicted, I didn't sleep on the red-eye. The hotel room wasn't ready when I got to Newark. The staff was unsympathetic to my claim that that must have meant they double-sold the room, since I'd prepaid. I did manage to get an hour's nap in before showering and going to see the customer.
That visit, at least, went well. We solved a few problems and they were able to test the Linux version of the software. I got to the hotel about 2:30 and was in bed by 3. I slept until 10:30, had a late room service dinner, chatted online for a while, and went back to bed. Got up about 8 feeling reasonably human.
Back to the customer for some more troubleshooting and planning. When I left, they were happy. Back to the hotel, where I didn't have enough time to make it into Manhattan to see anyone. I messed around online and went to bed early. Got up at 5 AM to get to Newark for my flight.
Transcontinental flights are long and dull. I finished my book and watched the abbreviated version of the movie Walking Tall with The Rock. Got to LAX a bit late due to departure delays at EWR (they're down to one runway).
Talked to lots of people. Had to go find a drugstore because my razor had somehow gotten lost and I'd run out of toothpaste. Talked some more. Had a hurried dinner, then watched the show from the green room. Got to bed early.
The third date is today. Unlike the others, I know in advance what we'll do for at least the start of this one, and it promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm really looking forward to it.
