New Honor Harrington book out

I'm a fan of David Weber's Honor Harrington series. The latest book, War of Honor, is out, and the first 14 chapters are online. The book also includes a CD-ROM with the text of the entire series in several different formats on it! Baen Books, the publisher, has quite an enlightened view toward having their stuff available on the net for free, and has a fairly extensive library to back it up. It certainly worked for me, as that was how I found out about the Harrington series, as well as several other authors I follow now. I suppose it would be too much to ask that everyone else be that intelligent...

Paul and I are going to Sioux Falls in a little bit, and I'm going to stop in at Barnes and Noble and see if they've got it yet.

Nose in a book

Yes, they had it. (See my previous post.) I'm up to page 465 of 861.

The CD is fantastic: it has the complete text of no fewer than 38 books, including the entire Harrington series, as well as many others from lots of different authors, all in several different formats for your reading pleasure. (There's even copies in a form suitable for reading on PalmOS and WinCE devices.) It's also got samples from audiobooks, a few filks, and some other goodies. Best of all, it really is freely copyable. That should be enough to keep me reading for a while.

I also picked up a few other books (aw, cmon, you really didn't expect me to get out of a bookstore with just one book, did you?!), but they'll wait till after I finish this one.
