Empty house

I'm usually the one traveling and leaving vakkotaur home by himself. He's off to Rocket City Furmeet, and now the shoe's on the other foot.

There are some things that I don't do while he's around that I'll do this weekend. I'm going to Sioux Falls in garb; the Siouxland Renaissance Festival folks are showing the flag (so to speak) at the Sioux Falls Canaries game tonight, and I'm joining them. I'll go to Des Moines tomorrow and come home Saturday evening, after a day at the Des Moines Renaissance Faire (realistically, that's probably all I'll be interested in doing, as it's run by someone whose main interest in faires is making money from them, so they tend not to be as fun over the long term; for contrast, see Siouxland). I went to the pizza buffet for lunch yesterday, and I'll go hit the Chinese buffet one of the other days.

I'm poking at a couple of computers to get them running again. I need to install AIX 3.2.5 on an old Micro Channel RS/6000, and discovered that the tape appears to be bad, so I'm going to try to scrounge up something else. I've got other stuff that needs doing, including some research for a couple of consulting opportunities.

Still, I feel a bit empty. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I keep looking around for something that isn't there.

I wonder how he feels when I'm gone for a week at a time.
