Replacing the drive myself

I called Apple to see if they'd let me keep the old drive for data recovery purposes. I was surprised to find out that they'll send me the replacement drive and allow me to swap it myself, with 10 business days to return the bad drive. The data recovery service I found in the Twin Cities will have the job done before then.

I've got a second drive of the same size, and will be setting the two up as a mirrored RAID set. No more single drive failures causing data loss for me...
