|1241 - Anyone out there do original music and audio?|
If so, please drop me an email. I have a project that's been languishing over a year because people keep volunteering to do the final audio and then dropping the ball, and it's time to get it finished and out the door.
My email is in my LJ user info.
current mood: curious
current music: The Cars - Just What I Needed
I sent in a request on their web form...we'll see what happens.
If it helps at all Rosaleen Dhu just had a great expereince with a studio in Sioux City?
Was this the one that you had to go to three times?
As it happens, though, I don't need a studio except incidentally; I need someone to compose and perform and record original music.
yes we had to go twice but it did work out the best
compose and perform and record?
I missed it, what are you working on??
I'll show you next time I'm there and have my laptop handy (which may be a while...)
Bring it with you to Siouxland on Friday night or maybe Sunday night we can have dinner
Okkay...if I can. I may have to come to Siouxland by flying into FSD from elsewhere.
If Paul can't meet you to pick you up, let me know and I'll make sure you get a ride!
Oh, I doubt that will be a problem...he'll have the Lexus just so he can pick me up. :-) Thanks for the offer, though.
I'm no composer, so I couldn't do what you're after, but...
what kind of music are you after? Instrumental or vocal? Rock, folk, symphonic, ethnic (OK, all music is ethnic, so maybe I should use the now-cliched "world music"--as opposed to unworldly, or alien music, I guess), electronic, industrial, trance, ...?
How long should the pieces be? Is your project linear, or does it jump around?
I'll send a fellow I know who has written songs for commercials and does voiceover work a pointer to the LJ entry...which reminds me, the big question: what, if anything, are you willing to pay, and what kind of deal are you offering the composer (does he retain rights to it? are you releasing the final work under a license that would let other people snarf and use the music?)?
I'm still trying to keep the project under wraps, so I can't answer your (very good) questions here without giving it away; I'll drop you an email.
I sorta do that sort of thing but to be frank I am still just an amateur mucking about with his Palm T3. (Which makes a surprisingly good portable synthesiser/sequencer with the right software)
However, my friends tehslugbug
are pretty good hobbyist musicians, albeit rather wacky. And since they're both teenagers with alot of time on their hands, I imagine they can whip something up pretty quickly if you wave a bit of money at them ;)
