|1607 - Preparing for Costume-Con 24|
I got program info via email a bit ago. Looks like I'll pick up some stuff, and see some useful things.
The big question: What to pack? Do people wear costumes around the con like they do at SF cons? Should I plan on being in costume 4 straight days (I can manage that easily), or just the gathering Friday night, or...?
current mood: curious
current music: Diesel - Sausalito Summer Night
well, I did!
Some people wear civvies for the afternoon events, but mostly it's a complete costume-fest. Seamstrix is currently working on her list of outfits.
Main diff between CC and a "regular" con is the lact of events other than costuming. No dance, parties...even the Con Suite closes around midnight, as everyone is getting up early for classes and panels.
ooh...okkay, so I just won't pack anything but costumes. :-)
The panel list looks a bit thin, but I expect I'll find something to occupy my time.
Judging from what pictures my friends on the h-costume list have shown, many people wear costume throughout Costume Con. If I were you, I'd plan to take all my costumes, see what people were doing, say, on Friday, and play it by ear.
Have fun! We'll be at Balticon that weekend.

I was aghast at this statement for a moment, until I realized you're not talking about fursuits.
This has been #27
in the "You know you've been to too many furry cons when..." series.
'This has been #27 in the "You know you've been to too many furry cons when..." series.'
Where can the other 26 be found?

I dunno, I just made that up. There probably is such a list somewhere, though.
Re: "many people wear costume throughout Costume Con"
Never having been to a furry con, this would never have occurred to me. Though I have occasionally worn costumes that were nearly as awkward for long stretches during live-action role playing games.
Based on what I'm hearing from Schlockers around the world, your book should get to you before you have to leave.
Make sure you pack it. ;-)
I'm going to leave after the mail arrives Thrusday...so if it gets here by then, you can bet I will, if only to show folks who ask about the General Xinchub costume.
