The family customs were different in detail, but the overall feeling and goodwill were the same. There were a couple of folks outside Paul's family that were there...an old friend of his dad, and a not-so-old friend. The not-so-old friend was a real motormouth - to the point that I sat there thinking "Go home. Please go home." at him for the last 90 minutes or so he was there. I spent most of the rest of the time hacking on Hercules.
Got a nice set of gifts from Paul and his folks, chief among them a Victorinox Cybertool 41 Swiss Army Knife and some winter survival necessities. I gave a few nice gifts, too, including a framed print of the picture of Paul and the Belgian horses for his mom and a digital clock for his dad.
A nice relaxing couple of days, overall.
