|2116 - Grumble.|
I'm not a fan of NFL football. I do, however, watch the Super Bowl, mainly for the commercials, but there have been a few good games the past few years.
When I do find myself watching football, there are only two teams I root for: the team playing the Dallas Cowboys, and the team playing the Pittsburgh Stealers.
current mood: cranky
You say "I'm not a fan of NFL football." Does that mean you're a fan of another kind of football, just not NFL, or not a fan of football period? (I don't peg you as much of a sports person - much like me, I may watch the odd Grey Cup (championship game of the CFL), especially if Winnipeg's in it, and I've been to the odd CFL, AHL, and NHL (when it was here) game, but I don't nearly consider myself a "sports fan" by any means, and don't understand most of the rules of most sports.
I say "NFL football" to make it clear what I'm referring to. I view soccer as utterly pointless and boring to watch, but that is not germane to the current discussion.
I'm not much of a sports fan in general, though I do like baseball.
Well, I was thinking of the other forms of (non-soccer) football, like the CFL up here, Australian, and I think even Europe has one (not soccer, but "real" football). An American friend of mine is actually a CFL fan (this may have something to do with the fact that he lives in Baltimore, which once had a CFL team, but he may have been a fan before that.)
I like soccer.. and baseball.. and football..
but I'm not a "fan" !
IMHO, all these events have very little to do with the actual 'sport' being displayed - but rather the excitement of seeing some form of drama unfold (is sport the ultimate reality TV show ?)..
I did watch SB XLIII - and I didn't really care who'd win.. but I enjoyed the last 5 minutes of drama ! And the same thing goes for soccer where a last minute goal makes a difference between a loss & a win.. or bottom of the ninth with all bases loaded, 2 outs, the home team trailing by 3 and some slugger comes up..
His arm WAS going forward.
Indeed. So close.
