0511 - A bit of baseball history

Here's one michaelmink will enjoy: The Houston Astros made a bit of baseball history last night by no-hitting the New York Yankees - and using 6 pitchers to do it. The previous record was 4 pitchers.

I haven't been following the Astros this year, but it turns out they're tied for first in the NL Central. Have to keep a closer eye on them.

Noteworthy Items

(1) First no-hitter against the Yanks since Hoyt Wilhelm, a knuckleballer, did it for the O's in a rare start in '58.

(2) The six pitchers broke the previous record, of four pitchers done twice.

(3) The 8 strikeouts in a row were the most done by an Astro pitching staff without resorting to scuffballs.
