Was it the Colorado Symphony Orchestra who were playing in the original album recording of that song, or are you listening to a special re-release/live version? (I've never heard a reference to what orchestra was used in recording the song before.)

The original album recording credits the London Festival Orchestra. There was no such orchestra beyond that one album, Days of Future Passed: they hired a bunch of musicians to back them up.

Years later, the music director of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra decided to see about doing a version of the songs on that album. Only one problem: It no longer existed. He sat down and listened closely, and rewrote it as he heard it. He then went to the band and discussed his arrangement. One thing led to another, and the final result was a concert at Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheater. The album I was listening to was a recording of (most of) that concert. The full title is The Moody Blues - A Night at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Highly recommended.

Oops. "It" refers to the sheet music used by the orchestra.

Interesting. I'll have to check that out sometime when I have money.
